"Age appropriate curriculum taught daily"
All about the LKC
Activities and Curriculum
My main objective is to have fun, improve social skills and encourage creative expression. I will utilize a variety of activities to accomplish this goal. Free play, reading, arts & crafts, music/ singing, dramatic play/ pretend, puzzles, and educational TV/ videos are just some of the activities we will be doing.
Music helps to develop young minds and will play a role in our day to day activities. I may also play music during other activities such as arts & crafts, meal and rest times. Some of the music I will be using may include children’s songs, soothing and relaxation sounds, learning/ dance music and others.
Television will be used as a tool to help children unwind and learn. Television will not be an everyday tool. Sometimes it will be utilized on “rainy days”. Viewing will be limited to PBS and child- friendly, educational- style videos. I carefully screen everything the children watch.
Children of all ages will be taught age appropriate curriculum daily.
Show-n-Tell
Every Friday children can bring in something from home to share with the other kids. Each child is given a chance to talk about their special item, for example where it came from, who gave it to them,
and what there favorite thing is about this item. Other children may want to ask questions about it too. I will help them with this activity
as well. This is a great way for children to learn how to communicate with their peers and teacher.
